Ruth and Eric Stadnik tore themselves away from their farm and vineyards in Sonoma to come up for a few days. This is at the lighthouse at Lime Kiln Point on San Juan Island, considered the best place to watch orcas from land. They come as close as a hundred yards from shore. Unfortunately, this day they were nowhere to be seen.
